If you are planning to drive a long distance for surgery remember that the combination of pressure on the back of the leg, recent surgery and immobility for long periods of time may put you at a higher risk for deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
Be aware of this and take precautions. Ask your surgeon about preventative measures like compression stockings and aspirin.
When driving after surgery stop the car every 1/2 hour and walk around the automobile four or five times.
