When can I exercise?

Most doctors encourage their patients to begin gentle walking by the end of the first week after surgery. A serious complication of any surgery is the development of blood clots, especially in the legs as a result of inactivity. The risk of this is reduced by early movement. After two weeks you can begin more activity but you should not do any heavy lifting or vigorous jogging for at least a month to six weeks. Sometimes there are exceptions to these rules. If you have any special needs please ask your doctor.

After abdominoplasty most people begin regular exercise around six weeks.
