Corrective or Revision Surgery
QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS PAGE? CONTACT DR. HUDSON
Can revision cosmetic surgery make things perfect? The answer is no, it is very unlikely that your result will be perfect. Not everyone is satisfied with the results of surgery.
Dr. Hudson's experience is that in most cases around 90% of the time both the patient and the surgeon are happy with the outcome of cosmetic surgery. Unfortunately this means that one out of ten times they are not. Secondary surgery does not change those numbers and after secondary surgery there is still at least a 1/10 chance that the patient will be unhappy, and there is often not a solution for all remaining problems.

Surgery is not an exact science and the outcome is not predictable. Patients should try to have a realistic viewpoint about the outcome. Dr. Hudson will do his best to get the result you want, but he cannot give you a guarantee about the outcome or the amount of change that can occur. Remember that there is a possibility, perhaps 1-2%, that things could be worse after surgery, not better. As with much in medicine the decision about what to do may rest on what method provides the most benefit with the least complications.Think carefully about this before deciding to proceed with additional surgery.
So, remember that surgery is not exact and that there is no guarantee that you will be better after revision surgery and never forget that your condition can be worse after surgery.
