People of asian background often have moderately pigmented skin that ages well. Their need for aging operations occurs later than european. Asian patients are usually interested in operations on the eyelid, nose and breast. Modification of the fold of the eyelid is common in many parts of Asia and breast enlargement is commonly requested. Some asian patients show concern about the nose and request elevation of the bridge of the nose.
Patients from the Indian subcontinent seem to have similar interests and needs as european patients but the darker complexion may add to the risk of scarring in some operations. Statistically the risk of true keloid or heavy scar formation is only slightly increased.
Arabic patients are also similar to europeans in their interests and the most common operation requested is nose surgery.
American Indian patients have skin that ages exceptionally well. They may develop fine lines but laxity occurs relatively late in life. They more often request operations such as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) or liposuction.
