How much will the operation cost?

Your doctor's office will give you an estimate of the cost of your surgery. When calculating the cost remember there are several separate charges. First is the surgeon's fee. Second the cost of an operating room and supplies. You will incur additional fees for an anesthesiologist, if you choose to go to sleep. The operating room will bill laboratory and X-ray studies and some special supplies, separately. If you stay overnight in the hospital you will be charged the regular room rate. Most doctors accept several methods of payment, including checks, cash and credit cards. Some participate in local or national programs to help you finance the cost of surgery. Most plastic surgeons expect you to make full payment for the surgical fee before surgery. If you cancel surgery without adequate notice, some doctors may charge a cancellation fee.

To avoid disappointment check with your doctor exactly what you are paying for. Many doctors use terms like full, partial or neck lift. This makes comparisons between doctors difficult. For example a full facelift may include a blepharoplasty or forehead lift; a neck lift is often a facelift with the emphasis placed on the neck and not the mid face, and a partial lift can be almost anything the surgeon chooses to call it.
