All surgery requires a scar and all scars take time to soften and fade. You will not see the final appearance of your scar for a year after surgery. It is usually red and raised for the first month or two after your operation. The scar for varies with the type of surgery.
For a facelift the incision often begins above the ear in the scalp or in the hairline. It is placed inside the ear or in front of the ear in the crease lines. It may continue behind the ear and then along or into the hair line. If the scar remains heavy it is usually in the concealed location behind the ear.
