For some men the idea of surgery to increase the size of the penis is a dream come true. Unfortunately recent information suggests that significant problems may occur.
There are two main ways to increase the size of the penis. The first involves lengthening the penis by releasing the ligaments which attach the penis to the pelvis.
The second method injects fat suctioned from some other part of the patient's body, usually the abdomen.
The risks are similar to circumcision and may include infection, scarring, loss of skin, bleeding, skin irritation, tightness, numbness and loss of penile function.
In the first week or two after surgery patients will experience pain and swelling. Sexual activity must be avoided for several weeks.
Surgeons who perform this surgery say they only perform the operation on men who are mature and emotionally stable. They also caution that you should have realistic expectations about the outcome.
If you are considering this operation make certain you are fully aware of the risks and make certain that your surgeon is a board certified plastic surgeon who has experience in this area.
