REI and Dr. Patrick Hudson offer a practical course on stitching your own cuts in the wilderness
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (July 7, 1995) -- REI and Dr. Patrick Hudson, a local Plastic Surgeon, will present a practical workshop on"Stitching your own cuts in the wilderness," at the REI store in Old Town, Albuquerque on Wednesday, July 12, 1995 at 7:00 p.m.. The public is invited to attend.
Anyone who explores the wilderness is at risk of a serious injury. A major laceration sustained when you are miles from anywhere can be a serious or even life threatening emergency. The choice may be to stitch your own wound or die!
Dr. Hudson will discuss how to look after serious wounds when you are too far away to call for help. Following the lecture there will be a hands-on demonstration of suturing techniques designed for lay people and a chance for participants to practice stitching techniques.
This is the third suturing workshop organized by Dr. Hudson and REI. The workshop is free.
Dr. Patrick Hudson is a board certified Plastic Surgeon and has been in private practice in Albuquerque since 1979. He is the official local spokesperson for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and is available for interviews and comments.
