How long does it take to heal after an ear pinback (otoplasty)?

Healing is a slow process and varies dramatically from person to person but this graph may help you understand the process. It takes almost six weeks for any scar to begin to soften and a full year to be complete.

The newly reshaped tissue is not strong for several months so it needs to be protected while it is healing. The most common injury is pulling the ear forward and breaking the stitches which may be holding the ear in place

Some surgeons reshape the cartilage by cutting the cartilage. Although the results care seen early on it may be many months before you can know the final result.
