How is the operation done?return to FAQs about Otoplasty
The principle of the operation is straightforward. The aim is to create an ear with a fold in the upper part and to bring the ear closer to the head. Most doctors do this by weakening the cartilage so that it will bend and/or insert stitches that hold the new fold (antihelical) in place. Some surgeons stitch the cartilage of the ear closer to the head.
