In this study the authors try to identify which patients are most likely to develop dry eyes after blepharoplasty. They use the Schirmer's test for tear production in an evaluation of 100 consecutive blepharoplasty patients. They feel that the shape of the orbital region is a more important and reliable method of evaluating a predisposition to developing dry eyes postoperatively than is the Schirmer's test. They feel it is of less importance than the history and physical examination.
