LIPOSUCTION
weight gain and pregnancy after liposuction
|
Patients often wonder what will happen if they gain weight after they have liposuction. A common fear is that they will develop an abnormal shape.
To understand the effects of liposuction you need to know that with some exceptions the number of fat cells we have is stable and does not change throughout our life. We all have areas where we are predisposed to lay down fat. These areas respond very little to diet and exercise and are best treated with liposuction

When fat cells are removed with liposuctioning they cannot come back. Increasing weight is distributed more evenly through the remaining fat cells. If the areas of predisposed fat accumulation are removed then the fat is no more likely to appear there than anywhere else. Even if you become pregnant localized fat accumulation in your predisposed areas is unusual after liposuction.
