ALBUQUERQUE, NM (June 7, 1996)-- Albuquerque Plastic Surgeon Patrick Hudson, MD has been recognized by the New Mexico chapter of Healing the Children for donating his medical skills to help a severely burned 15 year old girl from the Dominican Republic.
The organization is a nonprofit, volunteer group formed to assist children who have limited or no access to medical care.
The group awarded Dr. Hudson a certificate of appreciation for performing several surgical procedures on the girl who suffered severe burns on her chest and face when an oil lamp overturned on her. The surgeries were successful and the girl continues her recovery in the Dominican Republic.
Debbie O'Rourke, Director of Healing the Children, said: "It is through generous contributions such as Dr. Hudson's that we are able to make a real difference in the lives of children in need of medical care worldwide."
Eighty-five children have received free medical care in New Mexico since the group began here in 1989.###
